Silversmith Brewing Company is proud to announce that President & CEO, Josh Graham, has been named an ambassador for Gillian’s Place Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, a men’s march to end violence against women.
Gillian’s Place has been a cornerstone of support in the Niagara community for over 40 years, providing far more than safe housing. The organization offers a wide range of essential resources to women, children, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals affected by violence, ensuring that those in crisis receive compassionate care, safety, and empowerment.
For Graham, the cause deeply aligns with Silversmith’s values of inclusivity and community care:
“Gillian’s Place is far more than safe housing for those affected by violence. As a company that values being a welcoming space for everyone, our values align. We also recognize that alcohol often plays a role in violence against women, so it’s important for us to acknowledge, support, and bring awareness to this issue, and to stand behind our community shelter,” said Graham.
Silversmith Brewing Company has already demonstrated its ongoing commitment by brewing a charity beer in 2023 and 2024, with an upcoming release of Storm in a Teacup in November 2025 to benefit Gillian’s Place, an initiative that has become an annual tradition. In 2024, the brewery participated in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes for the first time, raising significant support and awareness. This year, Graham is taking on the ambassador role to amplify that impact even further.
“We want to be leaders who help bring awareness to this cause. Whether we know it or not, we all know someone who has been a victim of abuse. By humbly putting on a pair of heels and strutting our stuff, we’re showing our support and solidarity,” Graham added.
As an ambassador, Graham is committed to engaging men and boys in the conversation about ending violence against women. He emphasizes the importance of men taking responsibility:
“Men and boys need to help end violence against women, because if they don’t actively choose to be part of the solution, they will continue to perpetuate the problem. Speak up when you see something. Challenge harmful jokes. Real change starts with men.”
Silversmith Brewing Company invites the community to join Josh Graham and the Gillian’s Place team in raising awareness and funds through this important event. Together, we can take meaningful steps toward ending violence and creating a safer, more inclusive community for all.
